Livestock:

Doan Van Hong, living in Tang Hoa Commune, Go Cong Dong District, Tien Giang Province, earn high income thanks to goat farming. His farm is considered a typical livestock model which brings high economic efficiency. Local authorities encourage farmers around to replicate Doan’s model in the context of climate change adaptation, especially in the coastal areas.

Doan’s farm mainly supplies goats and doelings for other farmers and for meat production. With more than 1,000 goats for meat and doelings, Doan provides all kinds of goats to the market. In addition, his farm also buys goats for meat from farmers in the area.

Every year, Doan sells hundreds of goats and doelings. Currently, the price of goat for meat is over VND130,000/kilogram. Many goats in his farm weigh 50 kilograms and bring a significant source of income.

Plantation:

Up to now, drought and saltwater intrusion have caused losses in nearly 29,700 hectares of rice crop in 2019 and the winter-spring crop of 2019-2020 in the Mekong Delta. This includes 16,000 hectares of the 2019 crop, and 13,700 hectares of the winter-spring crop.

Authorities recommend that localities should actively store water and develop plans to cope with drought and saltwater intrusion, especially in 94,000/318,000 hectares of rice sowing late in December 2019 in 9 coastal provinces.

In addition, provinces and cities that have harvested the winter-spring crop 2019-2020 should not sow rice for the summer-autumn crop right away. Farmers should only sow when saline intrusion decreases and the water source is guaranteed for rice and vegetables farming.

Fruits:

Dak Gan mango grown in Dak Mil District, Dak Nong Province is mainly exported to China. Since the coronavirus outbreak, border gates to China have restricted; mango price has started to decline.

Dak Gam Commune has more than 500 hectares of mango of all kinds. It has an output of about 300 tons of fruits per crop. Currently, people are harvesting off-season mango. The main mango crop is in late April and early May.

At this time, it is the peak of mango harvest season, but only a few local traders buy mangoes at low prices to sell domestically. Type 1 Taiwanese green mango is sold at VND6,000 - 7,000/kilogram. Meanwhile, before the Lunar New Year, it was sold for VND25,000 - 31,000/kilogram, or about 4 times higher than the current price.

Farmers, Agriculture, Countryside:

In Da Lat City, the current average harvest value of 1 hectare of arable land is VND380 million/year. In particular, high-grade vegetables reach VND780 million/hectare; flowers reach VND950 million/hectare; high-quality tea is at VND370 million/hectare. Particularly, there are farming areas for high-class tree planting reaching VND3 billion/hectare/year.

Da Lat City continues to promote and support farmers to improve the harvest value per unit of arable land towards sustainable agricultural production.

Living and Environment:

Ninh Binh Province Bear Conservation Facility in Ky Phu Commune, Nho Quan District, Ninh Binh Province has a total area of ​​over 22,000 square meters. The facility is designed and built according to modern standards with 4 semi-wild areas. It creates the most natural living space for bears to help recover their instincts. The facility is considered an ideal, safe, and suitable home for bears.

Recently, Ninh Binh Province Bear Conservation Facility has actively carried out rescue services and educational activities to raise public awareness about biodiversity conservation and environmental protection. The facility is now recognized as a tourist destination.

Pet, Flowers and Ornamental Plants:

The profession of growing ornamental flowers brings higher economic value compared to other crops. Thus, many farmers in Dong Thap Province choose to plant flowers and ornamental plants to develop their family economy.

Up to now, the whole province of Dong Thap has 9/12 local associations of ornamental plants and bonsai, with nearly 3,600 members.

In addition to the older generation of artisans, the number of young artisans is constantly increasing. Many young artisans have won high prizes at bonsai and ornamental plants competitions. Currently, Dong Thap Province has many ornamental gardens worth hundreds of millions to several billions of Vietnamese dong.
