According to statistics collected as of March 6, 2019 by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service (ERS), the top 10 agriculture producing states in 2017 were California, Iowa, Texas, Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois, Kansas, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Indiana [1].
California was ranked first with over $50 billion in cash receipts for all agriculture commodities. California itself accounted for 13.5% of the U.S. receipts for all agriculture commodities.
Iowa, Texas, and Nebraska were also able to reach more than $20 billion in cash receipts. Other states in the top 10 such as Minnesota, Illinois, Kansas, North Carolina, and Wisconsin earned approximately $17 billion to $11 billion from agriculture. With a slight difference, Indiana ($10,579,799) surpassed Washington ($10,246,081) to become the 10th agriculture producing state in the U.S. For more details of the ranking, click here: https://data.ers.usda.gov/reports.aspx?ID=17844
