2.5.6. Curved body disease (Cramp tail syndrome)
* Signs:
Shrimp is cramped; its tail curves towards the abdomen and does not stretch out.
* Pathogen:
- The disease usually happens when shrimp is pulled out of the water suddenly in cold or hot, sunny days, when air temperature is largely different from water temperature.
- The disease can be caused by nutritional factors, such as the lack of micronutrients in the diet for shrimp.
* Preventions - Treatments:
- Avoid shocks in shrimp caused by temperature, ensure the ponds’ depths, and avoid catching shrimp on days of too high temperatures or too low temperatures.
- Provide mineral supplements for shrimp if the cause is from nutritional, dietary factors (micronutrients deficiency).
