In recent years, snake farming has become the main source of income for hundreds of households in snake-farming villages in Vinh Phuc Province. However, due to the influence of Covid-19, many farming households are facing hardships because their products cannot be sold.

Currently, products of these snake-farming villages mainly depend on the Chinese market. However, since the outbreak of Covid-19, wildlife was thought to be related to the new strain of corona virus, so China issued a ban on the sale and consumption of wildlife products. When the main market stopped buying, snake farmers were in a difficult situation.

Typically, Vinh Son Village, a long-standing snake-farming village which is famous all over the world by raising and processing snake products, has about 800 farming households with a total number of nearly 1 million parental snakes and commercial snakes. In 2019, the value from snake breeding in Vinh Son Commune accounts for over 92% of the total value of animal husbandry in the whole commune. However, due to the influence of Covid-19, many households in this village are currently in an unstable situation as their products are not purchased and sold.

The capacity of most irrigation reservoirs in the Central Highlands region reaches 50-85% of the designed capacity. The common capacity of hydroelectric reservoirs accounts for 40-95% of the reservoir capacity.

Meanwhile, the water resources on some rivers such as the Dak Bla River in Kon Tum Province are 57% lower than the average of many years, and the Serepok River is 59% lower than the average of many years.

Due to the 100% shortage of rainwater, the flow of rivers is low. Thus, there is drought due to lack of rainwater in Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Dak Nong Provinces.
