Underwood Family Farms in Somis (Ventura, California, USA)

Somis Farm Center is one of two farmer market centers of the Underwood Family Farms. Founded in 1980 in Somis, Ventura County, California, it has been growing and supplying the region with fresh produce for over 40 years. This farmer market also sells a variety of pickled vegetables, honey, nuts, juices, dried beans, eggs, flowers and gift baskets.

During Halloween, the farmer market displays and offers a wide variety of pumpkins of different sizes, as well as flint corn, gourds, squashes, and decorative items for the festive fall. The center has lots of beautiful scenes for visitors to take beautiful photos.

In the yard, beside the orange garden, there are houses of chickens, goats for children to visit. Children also enjoy playing with a wooden car and pumpkin house here.

Children and parents can participate in an educational agriculture program that features a demonstration from a farmer. The program combines a car tour around the farm, a lunch at the picnic area and fruit-picking activities. There are also tours to learn about animals and feed them.

Families and visitors can come to the farm to pick strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, orange and tangerine to bring them home with some fees according to the season, as the crops bear fruits year round. The price and availabity of fruits are announced on the website of the farm for you to plan your visit.

Usually, January to March has strawberry, tangerine; March to July has strawberry. In May, there are more blueberry; in June, there are raspberry. At the end of July, there are more blackberry. From August to December, visitors can only pick raspberry with blackberry.

The theme of the farm in this season is Pumpkin Patch - Preparing for Halloween at the end of October.

The market cener sells fresh or processed vegetables and fruits.

Fruits such as strawberry, plum, orange, pear are sold fresh or bottled.

The yard includes a pumpkin theme for Halloween visit.

Gourds, squashes, and flint corn are also sold for Halloween decorations.

Benches for guests to rest and enjoy the brilliant orange pumpkins.

If you follow this u-turn road to enter the corn maze, you can see sunflowers.

Kids love this wooden car on the small sandy beach.

Next to the car model are houses of goats, chickens, sheep and alpacas

And finally, the farm grows a variety of vegetables and fruits that you can pick and bring them home.
