Livestock:
According to the authority of Bac Lieu Province, this locality currently has more than 3.4 million poultry, mainly ducks and chickens. In addition, there are over 210,000 pigs raised in local farms and households.
From the beginning of July until now, the prices of most animal feeds and veterinary drugs have increased by 10-20%. In which, some items have increased by 30-40% compared to before. Meanwhile, the prices of live pigs, chickens and ducks all decrease.
With such a difference between input and output prices, it is difficult for farmers to make a profit from livestock production. Farmers are looking forward to stabilizing prices accordingly to help the livestock industry develop sustainably.
Plantation:
Over the years, pepper growers in Dak Nong Province have gradually changed their farming practices towards organic production, targeting the export market. Specifically, after being granted the certificate of geographical indication of "Dak Nong", Dak Nong pepper has a better chance to enter the international market.
Geographical indications are used to indicate the origins of black pepper, red pepper and white pepper products from Dak Nong Province. According to the authority, geographical indication has special significance for the pepper industry in Dak Nong Province because it is one of the localities with the largest pepper area in the country. The province has over 33,000 hectares of pepper and an output of over 60,000 tons/year.
Fruits:
According to the leader of Thanh Phuoc Agricultural Cooperative, Chau Thanh district, Hau Giang Province, due to the influence of Covid-19, the price of lime is only at VND6,000/kilogram, the lowest in about 8 years. Every year at this time, the price of lime usually ranged from VND25,000-30,000/kilogram.
Currently, the lime harvest season is divided by day, about 5 times less than before. Each week, the cooperative exports about 2-3 containers of lime; each container is about 28-35 tons, depending on the fruit size. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, transportation is difficult, production costs are high, and lime exports are not much.
Thanh Phuoc Agricultural Cooperative's seedless lime is being exported to many Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai (UAE), Qatar, Oman and the Maldives. The cooperative’s seedless lime has lots of water, glossy skin, and can be preserved for more than 1 month.
